Südzucker unit Agrana Stärke GmbH in early May began constructing a wheat starch plant at its operational 240 mln litre fuel ethanol facility in Pischelsdorf, Lower Austria. It holds a 75% stake in the site with beet growers group Rübenzuckerproduzenten Beteiligungs GmbH holding the remaining 25%. The facility processes grains.
The new EUR65 mln ($1=EUR0.77) plant is expected to start operations in late 2013. It will have the capacity to process 250,000 tonnes of wheat into 107,000 tonnes of wheat starch, 23,500 tonnes of wheat gluten and 55,000 tonnes of wheat bran, the company said.
