Bulls may prevail in renewable chemicals in 2013
Global economic turmoil has caused the investment environment in the past few years to be characterised by uncertainty, risk-aversion and reluctance, irrespective of the sector. This made it hard for players in the young renewable chemicals industry to attract funding; even harder than it would anyway be at any other time. These bearish conditions have persisted for two to three years now, exposing the industry to additional risk. The result is a situation where players face the threat of getting stuck in a vicious circle: investors shy away from business with pre-production, pre-revenue players, while companies need funds to build/commence operations to finally generate revenue and income.
