Change.org urges Progresso to stop lining soup cans with BPA
Thursday July 05 2012
Change.org reports that more than 100,000 people have signed a petition calling on Progresso to stop lining their soup cans with bisphenol A (BPA), a controversial food contact material that some European countries have banned for use in products for infants and toddlers.
FDA last month said it would review a petition from Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) aiming to ban BPA in infant formula packaging, but it won't review two similar petitions Markey filed concerning reusable containers and canned food and beverages.
