A strong rebound in ethanol production from molasses and sugar beet in Q4 helped to lift total 2011 ethanol production to a new all-time high of 1.838 bln litres, agriculture agency FranceAgriMer said. Total beet alcohol production in Q4 was 347 mln litres as the country took advantage of record sugar yields. Grain alcohol production was also higher than in each of the preceding three quarters reaching 254 mln litres. This brought total production in the fourth quarter to 622 mln litres against 394 mln in Q3.
