Football tournament lifts soft drinks consumption
Tuesday July 24 2012
COCA-Cola's Polish operation chief executive, Elafifi Ahmed, has said that he believes the local soft drinks market will record a modest increase in sales in 2012, compared with 2011, largely because of the impact of the Euro 2012 football tournament, held earlier this summer in both Poland and Ukraine.
In an interview with the Polish Press Agency (PAP), Ahmed said that the event will boost the market despite rising production and transport costs. "We expect that the soft drinks market will grow slightly in 2012," he said. "It's hard to say by how much because a lot depends on the overall economic situation but sales will certainly increase."
