UK processors shelve August milk price cuts
Friday July 27 2012
The UK's major milk processors have withdrawn planned farmgate milk price cuts due to come into force on August 1. Farmers for Action (FFA) welcomed the move, but said it did not go far enough to deal with the crisis the country's dairy farmers are facing.
The co-op First Milk was the first to announce on July 26 it was cancelling the price cuts paid to farmers in its liquid and balancing pools - meaning the standard litre prices will remain at 26.05 pence per litre and 26.10ppl respectively.
